The importance of intellectual capital and knowledge management are topics that are being worked on intensively at a global level in organizations. The need to incorporate knowledge management into the administrative practices of companies is increasingly recognized. Some companies focus on the acquisition of knowledge through external forces such as clients and suppliers, and others on joint learning from the experiences and knowledge of the company's own personnel. This paper presents the results of a research carried out among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Hermosillo, Sonora, and it is observed that although some are working hard on this topic, most companies are just beginning to venture into knowledge management.
